Microcurrent technology has been used for decades as a medical treatment for wound healing, pain relief, and even Bell's Palsy. For some time now, it's also been used for the noticeable lifting, tightening, and toning effect it has on the muscles and skin of the face. Celebs like Madonna and Jennifer Aniston have popularized the treatment for the mainstream. And the good news is, while microcurrent treatment is an investment, you don’t have to pay Hollywood prices to experience this incredible and non-invasive anti-aging treatment.
How Microcurrent Works
Microcurrent uses low-level electrical currents for skin rejuvenation, sending signals to your tissue and muscles to lift, repair, and tone, resulting in a more youthful and sculpted appearance. In addition, some settings improve the depth and severity of fine lines and wrinkles, calm inflammatory acne, and promote lymphatic drainage. You’ll simply lie down on the table and give your therapist feedback on the intensity of the current so the treatment can be tailored for you. Most clients feel incredibly relaxed during the treatment, and some even fall asleep.
The benefits of regular microcurrent facials include an increase in ATP (adenosine triphosphate, the chemical your cells use as fuel), stimulation of collagen and elastin fibers, and a significant increase in cellular hydration. When used consistently, these factors create a cascade of anti-aging benefits and effectively prevent future skin damage and premature aging. Taking years off without using freaky chemicals and destroying your skins barrier are what I'm all about here at Nectar.
The Process -- Are You Ready to Commit?
The visible effects of microcurrent can be seen immediately after the first treatment. Most people over 40 will see the best results after an initial series of 8-12 treatments done rapidly, at least once, and up to two times per week for 4-8 weeks. After the initial series is completed and you see the results you're looking for, treatments may be slowed down to once every 3-5 weeks. Using a handheld microcurrent device at home for 20-60 minutes per week is also recommended to maintain results. The device we suggest using can be purchased here.
A microcurrent series isn't for everyone -- it's a considerable investment of time and money and requires a sure consistency that not everyone can maintain. But for those willing to commit to a new, revolutionary way of caring for their skin, microcurrent may be the antidote to tired, stressed skin that looks older than its age.
Contraindications include pregnancy, epilepsy, an implanted pacemaker or other electrical devices, or severe chronic illness, but it is incredibly safe and well tolerated by most healthy adults.
Here are images of our client before and after only six microcurrent treatments at the studio. Her skin is noticeably healthier, radiant, and lifted, and lines around her mouth and eyes have been diminished. She has renewed confidence in her appearance, and her results look natural because they ARE natural. Her skin has changed on a cellular level in just six weeks using one of nature's most potent forces -- electricity.
